Are You A Man or Woman of God?

Transcript from the Radio Series : Who Do You Choose To Serve?

“And now Just As You Trusted Christ To Save You, Trust Him, Too, For Each Day’s Problems; Live In Vital Union With Him. Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him. See that you go on growing in the Lord, and become strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught!” Colossians 2: 6-8 (The Living Bible)
These were Paul’s words writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to the Colossian believers. It was a very direct word for those going through a very difficult time. Not much unlike you and I today in this country. There are those who have leadership roles in our churches who have over the last few generations begun the process of compromise. With each little compromise they have then in their carnal wisdom taken the Word of God and made it pliable. Shifting the meanings of words, and striping out verses taken out of context to the point where evil is now being called good and good is now being called evil. [Please note: this is nothing new, but is something that is being taught and accepted today beyond limits we as a society have ever allowed.] This is bad when it comes from the secular government or the courts. But now we face it head on from our churches. From those Churches who say they are followers of Christ.
But what Christ are they following?
In Colossae there were those who had become a part of the Church who truly wanted to teach their understanding of what Christ had done, based upon visions they had seen and ideas of the fleshly carnal mind. Please pick up your bible and read the entire book of Colossians. It is four short chapters that very much addresses where we are today.
In our willingness to be followers, many have chosen the god of this world. We have either come up with or openly are embracing cleverly devised tales by extracting parts and pieces from the Word, never reading or considering their meaning in context. We slap a new name on this “new” understanding of God’s Word, call it a denomination or give it a new ministry name, start to build buildings, create television shows, write books and hold seminars. We use His name liberally throughout all of this documentation, yet never really know who He truly is. We then simply refuse to listen to what He had to say because we are too busy slicing and dicing what He actually said to justify the box we have put Him in. We regard tradition with almost higher priority than His Word.
From Mark 7:6–9 we read (The Living Bible)  6 Jesus replied, “You bunch of hypocrites! Isaiah the prophet described you very well when he said, ‘These people speak very prettily about the Lord but they have no love for him at all. Their worship is a farce, for they claim that God commands the people to obey their petty rules.’ How right Isaiah was! 8 For you ignore God’s specific orders and substitute your own traditions. 9 You are simply rejecting God’s laws and trampling them under your feet for the sake of tradition.
Isaiah 29:13 (The Living Bible) 13And so the Lord says, “Since these people say they are mine but they do not obey me, and since their worship amounts to mere words learned by rote,
Isaiah 29:13–14 (Tanakh) 13My Lord said: Because that people has approached [Me] with its mouth And honored Me with its lips, But has kept its heart far from Me, And its worship of Me has been A commandment of men, learned by rote— 14Truly, I shall further baffle that people With bafflement upon bafflement; And the wisdom of its wise shall fail, And the prudence of its prudent shall vanish.
Are you a man or woman of God? I am not asking if you claim to be, but do you bear the fruit that shows the entire universe who you truly are. Are you a Christian or do you just claim to be? That is the very tough question that each of us must answer.
Matthew 15:12–14 (The Living Bible) 12Then the disciples came and told him, “You offended the Pharisees by that remark.” 13-14Jesus replied, “Every plant not planted by my Father shall be rooted up, so ignore them. They are blind guides leading the blind, and both will fall into a ditch.”
There is only one cornerstone, only one Rock upon which our entire faith can be built. That Rock that the builders rejected. This is the Rock that most so called Christian Churches today have put aside, explained away or just openly reject. Those who lead these churches say they want diversity, and are willing to listen to all points of view. They open embrace, condone and rejoice in sinful actions with no remorse. They wish to “accommodate all” and no longer call that which the Word of God clearly calls sin; Sin. They are convinced that the Grace of God excuses their actions.
Let’s remember the Book of Jude if you have ears to hear.
Jude 3–7 (NIV) 3 Dear friends, although I was very eager to write to you about the salvation we share, I felt compelled to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to God’s holy people. 4 For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. 5 Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their proper dwelling—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day. 7 In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.
And this directly from
Hebrews 10:26–30 (NASB95) 26 For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a terrifying expectation of judgment and the fury of a fire which will consume the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.” And again, “The Lord will judge His people.”
The creator of the Universe came and conquered death and sin for all who believe in Him. For those who have Faith and Trust in Him. He, and He alone is the Cornerstone of our faith.
Colossians 2:6–10 (The Living Bible) 6And now just as you trusted Christ to save you, trust him, too, for each day’s problems; live in vital union with him. 7Let your roots grow down into him and draw up nourishment from him. See that you go on growing in the Lord, and become strong and vigorous in the truth you were taught. Let your lives overflow with joy and thanksgiving for all he has done. 8 Don’t let others spoil your faith and joy with their philosophies, their wrong and shallow answers built on men’s thoughts and ideas, instead of on what Christ has said. 9For in Christ there is all of God in a human body; 10so you have everything when you have Christ, and you are filled with God through your union with Christ. He is the highest Ruler, with authority over every other power.
I simply want to know Him and know His Pure Word and Truth. I know by His Word that the Holy Spirit is to be my teacher. Let us close with
2 Peter 1:16–21 (Williams)   16  For it was not mere stories of fancy that we followed when we told you of the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we had been eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 For when He received such honor and glory from God the Father, when from the majestic glory there was borne to Him a voice like this, “This is my Son, my Beloved, in whom I take delight.” 18 we heard this voice ourselves borne from heaven while we were with Him on that sacred mountain. 19 So we have the message of the prophets more certainly guaranteed. Please pay attention to this message as to a lamp that is shining in a dismal place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts; 20 because you recognize this truth above all else, that no prophecy in Scripture is to be interpreted by one’s own mind, 21 for no prophecy has ever yet originated in man’s will, but men who were led by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
Always Read the Word of God in Context, reading the entire chapter or book, ask only the Holy Spirit of the Living God to give the interpretation.
Philippians 2:9–11 (The Living Bible) 9 Yet it was because of this that God raised him up to the heights of heaven and gave him a name which is above every other name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
How you live your life tells all the world who you choose to follow. Is it the Creator of the Universe or is it the god of this world? Have the courage to honestly ask yourself; Who Is It That You Choose To Serve?
All to His Glory!
