Does The Veil Remain Over Your Eyes?Transcript from the Radio Series : Who Do You Choose To Serve?
Father please open our hearts and minds to you. Give us ears to hear and eyes to see.
Are these scriptures hidden in your heart?
For God so loved the World that He sent His Only Begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him has eternal life. John 3:
This is my beloved Son; Listen To Him Luke 9:
Isaiah 66:2 (NIV) 2 Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” declares the Lord. “These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word.
Psalm 25:11–14 (The Living Bible) 11 But Lord, my sins! How many they are. Oh, pardon them for the honor of your name. 12 Where is the man who fears the Lord? God will teach him how to choose the best. 13 He shall live within God’s circle of blessing, and his children shall inherit the earth. 14 Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence him. With them alone he shares the secrets of his promises.
John 4:21–24 (NASB95) 21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. 22 “You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 “But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. 24 “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
From the Psalms, the Prophets and the Gospels we hear these warnings and promises and know them to be true.
Are these words in your heart? Do you believe His promises? In the last few messages we learned what it means to Believe, Have Faith and then Trust Him as God.
Believing is knowing in your heart what He says is true.
Faith is actually believing it is true regardless of the world’s opinion or religious teachings no matter the source. Faith is absolutely knowing nothing is impossible with God.
Trust is then acting on that Faith by our choices and actions. Trust is walking the talk; it is how we actually live our lives, what choices we actually make which reveals to the world who we truly are.
And then The Fathers own words given to us. “This is My Beloved Son – Listen to Him.” Do we listen to The Lord Jesus Christ’s Words and His teachings having the faith to know that we simply cannot understand heavenly things with an earthly mind? We take religious, doctrinal and theological positions based upon human wisdom and human understanding, the teachings of others and in doing so we refuse to remove the veil that is over our eyes.
The veil has been removed for all who believe in Christ and are born again, with the help of the Holy Spirit of the Living God. By Him, the Holy Spirit heavenly wisdom and understanding is available to all who are His. Yet we pull the veil down over our own eyes because we refuse to believe the very simple and plain teachings The Lord Jesus Christ spoke and demonstrated when He walked this earth.
But wait a minute you may say, this message is not for me, maybe others but not me. I have studied the Bible and read many books, I know my doctrine. Or maybe you are thinking: I went to seminary and my position is a sound established position held by the many great teachers of the Word.
Okay, but Let’s take just a minute and examine a very curious group of fellows that taught from the scripture as well. These are men that were the absolute best the human race had to offer when it came to matters of scripture. They were educated, devoted, dedicated, highly trained; they lived their beliefs and knew the Word of God inside and out. So let’s hear their argument.
John 7:40–53 (NASB95) 40 Some of the people therefore, when they heard these words, were saying, “This certainly is the Prophet.” 41 Others were saying, “This is the Christ.” Still others were saying, “Surely the Christ is not going to come from Galilee, is He? 42 “Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?” 43 So a division occurred in the crowd because of Him. 44 Some of them wanted to seize Him, but no one laid hands on Him. 45 The officers then came to the chief priests and Pharisees, and they said to them, “Why did you not bring Him?” 46 The officers answered, “Never has a man spoken the way this man speaks.” 47 The Pharisees then answered them, “You have not also been led astray, have you? 48 “No one of the rulers or Pharisees has believed in Him, has he? 49 “But this crowd which does not know the Law is accursed.” 50 Nicodemus (he who came to Him before, being one of them) said to them, 51 “Our Law does not judge a man unless it first hears from him and knows what he is doing, does it?” 52 They answered him, “You are not also from Galilee, are you? Search, and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee.” 53 Everyone went to his home.
“go and Search for yourself and see that no prophet arises out of Galilee.” This was the battle cry from this group of experts. This was what they were so certain of.
The statement made was a truth, and it did come from scripture. No prophet is recorded to come from Galilee, but it was a half-truth because it implied that Jesus was not of David’s descendants and was not born in Bethlehem. When in fact he was a direct descendant of King David and was born in Bethlehem. Would you not think if they gave any credence to who He was they would have asked these two very simple questions directly of Him. They did not, and would not because He did not fit into their prescribed plan and mold of who the Messiah was supposed to be and what the Messiah would do when He came. They were convinced that their form or brand of religion held all the answers.
That anyone not believeing as they did where simply in error. Yet this was the Son of God, the Promised Servant, the Messiah in the flesh in their very presence. So was it scripture that was in error? No, they were blinded by their pre-conceived opinions and were not willing to surrender their “religious pride” to inquire of the truth standing there before them.
How are most of us today who are in ministry any different that this group of experts? The Father told us to “Listen to Him”. Yet we try to interpret what He said with human wisdom and human understanding, by doctrinal positions and through the many lenses theological seminary’s teachings.
But if we would just read His Word we would know directly that no man is to interpret scripture, go and read 2 Peter 1:. We attend prophecy conferences in which the “newest revelation of end times is expounded”, books and DVD’s are sold and we are enticed by “cleverly devised tales”.
Simply look at all the different opinions and conclusions out there, all claiming to be truth, all selling books and filling lecture halls with people. Each with a different spin on what is going to happen.
But don’t you see there is only one truth. He came and lived amoung us and died on the cross for our sins. He unveiled the mystery of the universe that no one, not in heaven, or in earth or under the earth was able to understand. And in doing so conquerd death and sin once and for all. Yet most of us do not want to listen to what He said.
We want to hear some human expert tell us what He said. And then in the flesh we then put our spin on everything trying to understand what He said and what He did by searching the scriptures when in fact we should start with what He did and said and know that our understanding of the rest of the bible is based upon Him having fulfilled all that was written. Not just part, but all.
His words were and are so simple and direct that anyone with ears to hear and eyes to see can see and understand, but our eyes and ears are only open if we have the Holy Spirit with us and in us to give us His understanding, if we are born of the Spirit and the water.
This is My beloved Son; Listen to Him. That means believing what He said, having the Faith to know that it is His Truth and then Trusting Him. Regardless of man’s opinions, human wisdom or human understanding. Human wisdom has no bearing on who He is, or what He did. The mystery of the universe and the power of God cannot be understood by man’s wisdom. It can only be understood with heavenly wisdom coming from the Holy Spirit living with us and in us, and then only when we surrender ourselves to Him.
It is not until each of us is willing to give it all to Him and truly trust Him that the Holy Spirit will begin to open our eyes and our ears. He will become our teacher if we are willing to surrender all to Him then He will show us His truth. He promises to those who are His that the He will send the Holy Spirit to be our teacher.
If you are His, and if you are willing to truly surrender all to Him, to be His disciple then go to Him on your knees, repent of your sins and your pride and ask Him to begin the process of removing from you all that is not of Him. That He may fill you with His pure truth. Accept nothing but that which He teaches and confirms in His Word regardless of what the world or others may think, write or publish.
This is a process; this is a winnowing, sifting and pruning process. All that is not of Him will be cut off and thrown into the fire, but only if you are willing. This is the promise of Matthew 3:11-13. Do you truly love Him. Are you willing to surrender all to Him?
This is who He is, and why He came stated clearly by John right there in very simple words. He came to save the lost; including those lost in the pride of human wisdom and religious teachings regardless of their title or earthly position.
Who do you choose to serve? Are you willing to give Him all? If in your heart you can and are willing to do this, then go directly to Him and listen to His voice and His alone. His Word is so simple that a child can understand. It clearly shows the wisdom of man to be pure foolishness.
John 6:44–48 (NASB95) 44 “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. 45 “It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught of God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father, comes to Me. 46 “Not that anyone has seen the Father, except the One who is from God; He has seen the Father. 47 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life. 48 “I am the bread of life.
Jeremiah 31:31–34 (NASB95) 31 “Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, 32 not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord. 33 “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” declares the Lord, “I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 34 “They will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares the Lord, “for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”
Are you willing to come to Him as a child and sit at His Feet. He is knocking on the door of your heat. Open the door and invite Him in.
Choose today who you will believe.
All to His Glory!
