What Choices Have We Made?

Transcript from the Radio Series : Who Do You Choose To Serve?
Let us hear the message given by God through Moses to His People that was just as relevant to them at the time as it is to us today.
Deuteronomy 30:15–20 (NASB95) 15 “See, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and adversity; 16 in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you may live and multiply, and that the Lord your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it. 17 “But if your heart turns away and you will not obey, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I declare to you today that you shall surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess it. 19 “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, 20 by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days . . .”  (go and read the entire chapter and book)
The title of this series is a question “Who Do You Choose To Serve?” In the last message we talked about making certain choices and choosing to refuse others.
Today, let’s take a hard look at the choices already made and the fruit of those choices in the span of the current generation’s life time in this country we call America.
We have with enthusiasm, taught our children that we were not created, but have evolved. Go and read Romans 1: -2; . We have devised cleverly woven tales about the origins of the universe, the earth, and man himself. This serves to all but justifying whatever behavior, along with the moral and ethical position we choose to apply to the current situation or choice we make.
Evolution takes away the idea of a creator, and any standard of behavior.  By this standard, we are nothing more than evolved animals and therefore right and wrong are simply a function of what society enforces as laws. Each man or woman are led by the desires of their heart; to do as they please and if that pleasures do not match up with the current society’s or church values then it is their duty to change the view of society and the church. Amoral choices are now accepted as the norm and anything less than enthusiastic embrace and acceptance of these choices by others is considered hate.
In doing so we also have become very proud and arrogant and cannot tolerate the idea that mankind has any rights except those given to him or her by the power in control at the time, be it a king, a dictator, or a set of individuals in a governing capacity at the time.
The idea that there are absolutes that do not and cannot change has been abandoned to a belief where anything is or can be acceptable behavior; whatever it takes to satisfy the lust of the flesh.
The so-called “Christian Churches in America today” almost without exception are preaching a form of religion that aligns itself with the decaying moral values of the country and the people who occupy the pews. Just as a cloud without rain; if the church takes a position against sin it soon retreats because it might alienate someone or some group, or it might affect their tax status or government program grants.
In general church services are completely void of any sound teaching. A lot is said about philosophies, self-help and love of self, while excusing and holding no one accountable for their actions and deeds citing unlimited grace and forgiveness. The Lord Jesus Christ was very clear and to the point regarding His Word and the standards those who call themselves Christians will be held to, but this does not agree with the lifestyles or choices these organizations chose to promote so they are ignored or interpreted to mean something completely different.
Our churches have become an entertainment stop either on Sunday Mornings or 24/7 ministry broadcast on television, internet and radio where most anything is tolerated and taught all with the idea of selling more books and raking in larger donations. Are these large offerings being spent on orphans and widows or are they used for expensive mansions, and buildings, airplanes and the lifestyles of the rich and famous who try to appear as shepherds when they are really wolves in sheep’s clothing. What “Jesus” do they teach?
For the sake of inclusion, and so as not to exclude any:  many churches have now shifted and they are inclusive to other religions and beliefs. They disregard the blood shed on the Cross and teach that there are many paths to eternal life.
Are all churches this way today? No; but simply look at the fruit most of them bear in this time of social, moral and religious unrest and decay. They are lukewarm, not hot or cold but just lukewarm.  Where are the voices proclaiming “Jesus Christ is Lord To the Glory of God The Father”. Where is the voice crying out against those who now call evil good and good evil.
They are virtually nowhere to be found.
Who is willing to show to the world, by their words, deeds and actions, by the fruit they bear that they are disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ? No, most for the sake of diversity and inclusion have followed the leading of the god of this world and simply continue on in a “form of religion” that does not honor God, or His commands. They deny Him at every juncture and where there is conflict they simply accept these new lifestyles and norms; embrace them and incorporate them into their ever-changing set of values.
Where is the watchman of Ezekiel today? Have you ever read Ezekiel chapters 3: or 33;?
We have taken God out of our science, out of our schools, out of our homes, out of our entertainment, out of our government, and out of our lives. The enticement of lust, power and greed has become so great that these things rule our lives, our decisions and our choices.
We were once a nation that held God as the center of our lives, our conduct, our laws and our moral values. This nation was founded by those whose stated goals were very simple. Freedom to Worship God, and the freedom to live our lives in a way that honored Him. If you doubt this, simply go and read the writings of our founding fathers. Were they perfect, no; but they knew who the Creator of the Universe was and understood His sovereignty. They had reverence for Him. Were they perfect? Of course not! Did they make some big mistakes? For sure they did, but in general they acted in a way that showed reverence for our Creator. They honored Him in their speech and actions. They called themselves Christians; they almost all came together and called Him Lord of Lords and King of Kings. They accepted and in fact relied upon the faithfulness of His Word, the Bible and agreed that His Word was made flesh, came and dwelt among us. They confessed Him as their Creator and Lord, knowing there was one way to the Father and that was through the Son.
Do you know that almost every major university that was founded in the early years of this country was to bring glory to God! Our laws and constitution were based upon the Ten Commandments and the Bible. The principal tenure of the Declaration of Independence was that the rights of men were God given and not as decreed or decided by any human government in current power. Prayer to the Creator of the Universe was not only embraced but was given at all events of a civic nature. His hand of protection and blessing was one upon this county.
What about today?
Listen to His Words:
Ezekiel 33:11 (The Living Bible) 11 Tell them: ‘As I live, says the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; I desire that the wicked turn from his evil ways and live. Turn, turn from your wickedness, for why will you die, O Israel?
Joshua 24:14–15 (NASB95) 14 “Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve Him in sincerity and truth; and put away the gods which your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Psalm 1:1–6 (NASB95) 1 How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers! 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers. 4 The wicked are not so, But they are like chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked will perish.
So what choices have we as America and as individuals made:
Rejection and rebellion of our Creator at almost every level!
Please pick up your bible and go, read these references in full context. Seek Him and He will show you His Way. He can change the evil and wicked heart; but it is He and He alone who can do so. The evil man or woman will suffer for their sins if they do not turn to Him for forgiveness and change their evil ways. It is all so very simple and is so very evident for all who have eyes to see and ears to hear and a heart willing to hear the Truth.

Who Do You Choose to Serve? You and I answer that question by the fruit we bear in our life, our words, our deeds and our actions.
All to His Glory!
Hbs
