Transcript from the Radio Series : Who Do You Choose To Serve?

Tell me why we take it upon ourselves to try to interpret scripture. Tell me why with our human intellect we use our own wisdom and understanding to then give instructions to others as well.
Why do we not read His Word and listen. All of  2nd Peter 1: especially verse 21 tells us clearly that the only one who is to interpret scripture is the Holy Spirit of the Living God. And then Proverbs 3: with focus on verses 5-7 says we are not to use our own understanding; for the wisdom of man is foolish unto the Lord.
We, (all of us) take it upon ourselves to use human wisdom and human understanding to try to understand heavenly things. The Lord told Nicodemus in John 3: that does not work, and the Holy Spirit speaking through Paul in 1 Corinthians tells all who are willing to hear that it is only by the Holy Spirit that we may understand heavenly things.
Do you not see it is not God’s Word and our wisdom that reveals His Truth? God’s Word is so plain and clear if we read it without all of the religious teachings and man-made doctrines that we so desperately want to attach; it clearly explains and confirms itself. But we by nature want to use our human intellect, wisdom and years of schooling and study to try to re-state what the Lord clearly says if we just had ears to listen.
With our prideful wisdom we then take positions and divide up into camps and the doctrinal battles begin. We write commentaries and then persuade others to join our position and now we have validation and on we go absolutely convinced that our position is correct. We debate and try to persuade with human wisdom others who don’t hold the same position as we do.  We put ourselves exactly where the Scribes, Pharisees and religious leaders and teachers positioned themselves when they encountered Lord Jesus.  The creator of the universe walked among them and they were so blind by their own wisdom, understanding and interpretation of the Law and the Prophets that they failed to see what a simple child could see and understand. He, the Lord Jesus Christ was the Word of God, the Messiah, the promised one.
But , this is our nature. This is the sinful part of our nature. Just because we are born again does not mean we now have heavenly wisdom and understanding. Yes the Holy Spirit is with us and in us just as the Lord Jesus Christ tells us in John 14: if we are born again, but we are babes. We can only digest milk. We cannot understand the meat of the word by commentaries and human teachings and the more we look for it in human sources the more distraction and misdirection we will find.
Why did Paul desire to talk to the Corinthians about the meat of the word, yet knew that He could not until they were “heavenly” mature. Why? Because there is only one teacher that can teach anyone about “heavenly things”. There is only one who can give “heavenly wisdom” to someone who is seeking; seeking with their true heart in humility, reverence, obedience and fear.   There is only one who can rightly interpret the Word of God and give heavenly understanding to that which is written. That one; is no man or woman of human sinful flesh, born in this age or another age. That one is God Himself, by and through the Holy Spirit of the Living God, for those who have been washed by the Blood of the Lamb. .
Yes, the Lord will use certain individuals to confirm what He may give you. And when He does you will know without a doubt, that what they speak or write is His truth, because it will be confirmation to what He has given you. But it is not to them that we give the glory or the honor, for it they speak for Him they will not accept it. They know that it is those who Humble, Fear and Obey are the ones He seeks. If it is truly from Him, then the person writing or speaking will give Him the Glory and take none of it for themselves.
Will “heavenly wisdom” ever contradict the Word of God; absolutely not!. But did the religious leaders, at the time of the Lord Jesus walking this earth as a man, have the wisdom to understand what He was saying. What He was doing? What He was fulfilling? Did the disciples?
No they did not. It was the Mystery of the Universe. It was not understood by God’s people, nor was it understood by the enemy. Yet it was clearly written for the entire universe to see, for the entire universe to understand. Yet, until all was clearly fulfilled by the Lord Jesus Christ no one could understand, even though it was right there before them. We can only understand His Word by and through the Lord Jesus Christ own words, teachings and fulfillment of scripture, but again not by our own wisdom and understanding today just as in the past;  it is only by His Holy Spirit with heavenly wisdom and heavenly understanding that heavenly things may be understood.
Our God uses the weak and the foolish things of man to show and demonstrate His Glory. You see one must know Him first. We must know Him intimately, be born of His Spirit and have a willing heart before we can even begin understand the meat of His Word. The milk of the Word can be understood by anyone the Father draws and then they having free choice it may be accepted or rejected. We all have free will. We can choose, to believe or not to believe. Just as the parable of the sower so clearly given to us by the Lord in Matthew 13: it is our choice.
He will make take these hearts of stone and change them into good soil, Ezekiel 36:  that the seed of His Word may be planted and then watered by the water of the Word will grow and produce 30, 60 or 100 fold. But all of this is dependent upon our choice and our willingness to give it all to Him.
Giving all to Him entails giving up our own “religious understandings and doctrines”. No different than at the time He walked this earth. Giving all to Him means going to the secret place and meeting Him there, spending time with Him there and allowing Him and only Him to teach you. Matthew 6:  Psalms 91:  Allowing Him to open our eyes just as He did on the road to Emmaus. Yes, He may use others to plant seeds and water the garden but it is only by Him and through His Holy Spirit that you will grow. 1 Corinithians 3:
Do you not think this was what the disciples and the early church did? Do you not think that this is what Paul, Barnabas and Apollos did? They could only understand the Messiah and what He came to this earth and did by and through the Holy Spirit of the Living God giving to them “heavenly wisdom and understanding”. The message of the Gospel and heavenly things was very much at odds with the religious teachings, wisdom and understanding of the day and the organized religious leaders and teachers of the time.
What about today? Does His Pure Word contradict the current Christian religious teachings and doctrines of today? Yes, many of the teaching and doctrines held today are simply not of Him they stand in bold contradiction to the simple plain clarity of His Word. If you are willing to hear and act on the truth, He will show His truth to you. It is no different than two millennia ago.
Will He ever contradict His Word? No, Absolutely Not, but one must have the Word of God in their heart first. The Word of God in context. Read the Word of God in context and ask the Holy Spirit to give you heavenly wisdom and heavenly understanding. The Holy Spirit will then be your teacher. Your only teacher; just as the Lord Jesus Christ tells us. He will use others to help plant the seed, and water the garden but the growth His growth in you will only come about as a result of The Father filling you with His Spirit and His wisdom and His understanding. Hear His Word:
Psalm 124 (The Living Bible) 1 If the Lord had not been on our side (let all Israel admit it), if the Lord had not been on our side, 2 we would have been swallowed alive by our enemies, destroyed by their anger. 4 We would have drowned beneath the flood of these men’s fury and pride. 6 Blessed be Jehovah who has not let them devour us. 7 We have escaped with our lives as a bird from a hunter’s snare. The snare is broken and we are free! 8 Our help is from the Lord who made heaven and earth.
The snare of sin is broken. We are in fact free. Free from sin, free from religious teachings and religious laws. We are free to be His Sons and His Daughters. We are free to choose eternal life or eternal separation from Him. Yes it is our choice and each of us will decide, either by action or inaction.
Matthew 11:25–30 (The Living Bible) 25 And Jesus prayed this prayer: “O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding the truth from those who think themselves so wise, and for revealing it to little children. 26 Yes, Father, for it pleased you to do it this way! . . . 27 “Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father. Only the Father knows the Son, and the Father is known only by the Son and by those to whom the Son reveals him. 28 Come to me and I will give you rest—all of you who work so hard beneath a heavy yoke. 29 Wear my yoke—for it fits perfectly—and let me teach you; for I am gentle and humble, and you shall find rest for your souls; for I give you only light burdens.”
So the question remains Who Do You Choose to Serve?
The god of this world or the Creator and Giver of Life?
All to His Glory!
